NaPoWriMo Day 27 – Trails

Standard

vyacheslavmishchenko-23-934x You say that home is where the heart is
but we would disagree,
to an extent. We’ll get back to you on that.

You say all roads lead to Rome
eventually. We’ll see about that too,
just be patient, give us time.

You say that time flies or crawls,
but we prefer to see it slide
trying to keep pace with us.

You say pride goes before a fall,
then call us lazy and inefficient
but we’re actually pretty grounded.

So do your best to bring us down,
we’ll just keep on going. Slowly.

NaPoWriMo Day 26 – Just Sayin’

Standard

I have neglected
the poem
that was meant
for yesterday

and which
you were probably
expecting
to be better

than this
but it isn’t
so yeah
deal with it

I am actually fairly annoyed at myself for not getting one done on the 26th. Have a themed pun.

NaPoWriMo Day 9 – We/You

Standard

We took ourselves and in our image
created something more.
We took our limits and our flaws
we took our hatred and our love
and created something different
but close enough to home.
We wanted you to fight our battles
we wanted you to be
the things that we could not.
We made you orphans, exiles, rejects
because that was what we were.
We gave you magic, gave you science
gave you everything between.
We gave you names of power
because our words had failed.
We didn’t know how much we needed you
and we know you were never real
— and we still do.

But sometimes
we see past your coloured clothing
we see past your troubled starts
we see past your endless reboots
we see past your every frame
of every page in which
we gave you life.
And sometimes
we look up and hope to see
ourselves in you.

NaPoWriMo Day 17 – to Tell a Story

Standard

The text:

to Tell a Story

Come, Mon Amour,
let us make a Last Stand
against the Dark
with our Blankets.

Let us Drift towards the End
of the Horizon
before this Venom
takes us,
this Haunted Dance,
by the Circle of our Chaos.

Let us reach Complete
Understanding
and find Asylum
from the Wound Within us,
our Civil War Reborn.

Let us Disguise
a long Unwritten History
of Heartbreaks
of Mysteries
to Protect each other
from Wrath.

And, as they All Fall Down
we will speed up time, for
The Arrival to the obvious
conclusion:

We Wanted Life
